Pageant Coordinator

Volunteering your time to support causes you are passionate about is something you will never regret. Before the judges and an audience can enjoy the smiling faces, lavish gowns, and talents of the young women in the Miss Prodigious Beauty Pageant, the coordinator will work behind the scenes to help put the event together. Behind all the glitz and glamor, the pageant coordinator will work along with the director (s) to fulfill several duties to make sure everything goes off without a hitch, working months in advance to plan, organize and orchestrate the pageant.

Contestants

One of the most important parts of the pageant coordinator’s duties is working with and organizing the contestants. The beauty pageant coordinator advertises the upcoming pageant to get contestants to enter, create, and distribute the contest entry forms. We may ask the pageant coordinator to put together contestant information kits that include materials that help the girls before and during the pageant, such as potential interview questions, wardrobe requirements, judging criteria, and travel arrangements.

Judges

The judges require direction and preparation as well. We may ask the pageant coordinator to coach judges on the details of that pageant and prepare the judging sheets used during the pageant. The coordinator arranges for travel and accommodations for the judges, as well as transportation, meals, and other incidentals during the pageant.

Pageant

The coordinator will work with the directors to secure all necessary reservations and permits for the pageant. Other aspects, such as audio, video, and music, will also be lined up and scripted by the coordinator. The coordinator oversees hiring an emcee and working with this person and the director on putting together a script for the event.

Miscellaneous

On top of all the major duties, pageant coordinators fulfill a few smaller, yet still important, duties. After the pageant is all over and one young woman is crowned the queen, the pageant coordinator works with the winner, setting their travel, media, and personal appearance schedule and coaching her to represent the pageant and Own Your “NOW” Foundation N.A., Inc.

Coordinator Requirements:

• Experience working in pageants, fashion shows, or stage events is a plus.
• A degree in fine arts or similar is helpful but not required.
• Passion for working with others.
• Strong interpretive and creative thinking skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, time management skills, and work ethic.
• Superb interpersonal, collaborative, and communication abilities.
